Lott who was Post Master in Dycusburg for years until her stroke .

R.S. Peek , son of R.M. and S.J. b. 10-8-1870 d. 11-18-1878 (8 years old)
Little Jennie Peek, daughter of R.M. and S.J. b 2-12-1879 d. 4-11-1883. (4
years old, notice Little Jennies birth is only three weeks before Sarah J's
death.

! One Peek researcher listed the above two children as belonging to Sarah
McRy when it was actually Sarah Ann Davenport who had previously been
married to a McCree. This may be because Richard Mentril Peek, left with
five children rasnging in age from:
Sarah Olive, 13 years old
Edward Byron, 12 years old
Robert, who had just died a few months earlier at age of eight
Mary Lou, 6 years old and
Jennie was only 3 weeks old

! During this period Richard's second wife, Sarah Ann Davenport, was
married to William McCree on 2-5-1879 - three weeks before Richard's
first wife Sarah J. Pilcher's death.

Richard married Sarah Ann Davenport in 1886 in Lyon County, KY. Sarah (daughter of William Lewis Davenport and Mary Crouch) was born on 7 Jul 1860 in Crittenden, County, KY; died on 20 Jan 1944 in Crittenden, County, KY; was buried in Dycusburg Cem., Crittenden, County, KY. ! Sarah Ann was previously married to William McCree on 2-5-1879. Her
father William L. Davenport consented to the marriage performed by John
Myers at William L. Davenport's home. Also witnessed by Sarah's mother
Mary, Samuel Houston Davenport (William's brother) and John O. Tabor.

! The closeness in spelling and sounding of Sarah McCree to Sarah McRy led
one researcher to listing a Sarah McRy as his wife. According to a local
genealogist, and granddaughter Perninah Grace Farmer (Peek), Richard had
two wives. Sarah Ann (Davenport) McCree and Sarah J. Pilcher.

property not to be traded unless it is thought best to the furtherance of
the interest of my estate.

Marshall and Naomi "Nancy" Vardeman) was born on 9 Nov 1799 in Scott, County, KY; died on 28 Jan 1872 in Eddyville, Lyon County, KY, Maybe Caldwell?; was buried in Adamson Cemetery, Caldwell, Co., KY. !Francs Marsdhall married Thomas W. of the Peek Family (sometimes Peak).
Thomas b. 7-13-1780, d. 3-1860 in Caldwell, Co. VA. They are both buried
in Adamson Cemetery, Caldwell Co. KY.

!Frances' headstone places date of birth in 1799 instead of other sources
indicating 1800 and confirms her death date as 1-29-1872.

!Also married into the Peek family is my g-g grandfather John R. Fleming
who married Isabella A. Peek, daughter of Thomas W.

! William L. Davenport was a Civil War Veteran having served with Company
D, 20th Infantry of the Union as a Corporal as did his brother
DAVENPORT, Samuel H. Private Vet trans to 6 KY Vet Cav

! The 20th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, USA was organized late 1861 and
mustered into United States service 6 Jan 1862 at Smithland, Kentucky
(Livingston County). It participated in the battles Shiloh, TN, Corinth, MS,
Lebanon, KY, Kenesaw Mountain, GA, Dallas, GA, Ackworth, GA, and Atlanta,
Georgia. It was mustered out at Louisville, KY, 17 January 1865 with the
members being transferred to the 6th KY Veteran Cavalry. Abstracted
from the Adjutant General Report.

! William signed an affidavit in support of Mrs Ann O'Brien's request for a
half-pay pension for her husband Dennis O'Brien who was killed at the Battle
of Shiloh in 4-6-1862. Order Book G Page 273 of 5-26-1862

!George M. Marshall, Sr. is the son of Rev. William Marshall, b 1735
Westmoreland Co, VA d. 1809, Henry Co. KY and Mary Ann Pickett, b. VA,
daughter of William Pickett and sister of Martin Pickett. They came to
KY in 1799 with a traveling church.

!His second wife was Clary Fowler, married 8-1-1822 in Caldwell County, KY,
the same year as Naomi Nancy Vardeman's death. He next married Polly
Connell in 1826. She married next Needum Nichols 8-15-1838

!George came to Caldwell Co. from Scott Co, KY in 1816 and bought land
on Eddy Creek from John Gray. He may possibly have been married before
Naomi. He lived in Fayette Co. KY in 1826

!He must have died unexpectedly because he didn't have a will. At that time
wills were not written unless death was near.

George married Naomi "Nancy" Vardeman on 28 Oct 1796 in Bourbon Co., KY. Naomi was born in 1771 in Bedford, County, VA; died in 1822 in Caldwell, County, KY; was buried in Pettit Cemetery, Caldwell Co., KY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

! Naomi was daughter of Peter Vardeman (1754-1811) in VA, died in Shelby
County, KY and Prudence Unknown. Prudence b. est. 1750 and died after
1810. Peter was the son of John Vardeman, Jr. (b.1718 in Sweden and
died about 1827 in Missouri) and Elizabeth Morgan, b. abt 1718 in Wales.
John and Elizabeth had 13 children.

! Her sister Prudence Vardeman, b.abt 1770 married Lewis Marshall, son
of William Marshall and Mary Ann Pickett, thus she was both sister and
sister-in law.

! Naomi's other siblings were:
1. Molly Vardeman b: ABT 1770 in Bedford County, VA, married a Menefee.
