| 14. | Michael J. (Mac) Bluntzer was born on 24 Sep 1869 in Arneckeville, Dewitt Co., TX, USA (son of Sixtus Bluntzer and Katherina Walter); died on 29 Jun 1964 in Yorktown, Dewitt Co., TX, USA. Notes:
He, along with his wife, Mary, owned and operated the store and at one time it was also a dance hall,at Upper Meyersville, DeWitt Co., TX. Mary would bake pies for a couple of days before dance nights and sell them to the dancers. Two pieces of pie and two cups of coffee sold for a total of fifty cents and she often said she made more money than he did selling dance tickets. One night during a dance, an argument began between a Scheffler and a Duderstadt and ended with Scheffler being stabbed by Duderstadt. He died on the counter in the dance hall. Blood stains remained on the floor for many years until the building was partially remodeled. The building still stands (1997) in Upper Meyersville, although it has been turned around and moved a short distance to make way for the widening and paving of FM 237. Although now covered by panelling, one of the old walls still bears the names and dates, in the early 1900's, of people believed to be a popular Mexican band who played for dances in the early days. The building was sold to M. J. (Mac) and Mary Bluntzer after the dance hall was closed. They turned it into a grocery store and a one pump gasoline stop. The Bluntzer s in turn sold it to Joe and Annie Migura who ran it as a grocery store, also selling beer and gasoline for a number of years. Upon the death of the Miguras, it was sold to Victor and Theresa Warwas who in turn sold it to some distant descendants of Peter Bluntzer, namely David V. and wife Barbara Ann (Arnold) Vorpahl, still selling beer, groceries and gasoline.
