HENRY WALKER WINSLOW, SR., (my Grandfather) died at his home in Cisco, Eastland, TX, and was buried in the family plot in the San Saba City Cemetery, San Saba, San Saba County, TX. He was a butcher (meat cutter) at time of death.
SAN SABA NEWS, p. 4, Thursday, September 6, 1928: "H. Walker Winslow, a native son of San Saba town, died at the family home in Cisco at 10:30 o'clock Monday morning. The body was brought to San Saba and funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Clem W. Hoover, pastor of the Church of Christ, conducted the funeral services in the presence of a large circle of friends and relatives. The pallbearers were W. V. Dean, A. B. Wilson, A. E. Moore, W. A. Smith, and J. G. Holder, and E. M. Scott.
"The deceased was born May 13, 1875. Many years ago, he was married to Miss Blanche Magill of Cherokee and leaves surviving the weeping wife and four children. They are Mr. L. Ballard of Eastland, Mrs. Bob Rose of Brownwood, Walker, Jr., and Jack Winslow at home. There are also three brothers and two sisters: H. N. Winslow, G. P. Winslow, W. W. Winslow, Miss Vollie Winslow of San Saba, and Mrs. J. P. Altizer of Haslet, Texas.
"Walker Winslow was a good man. He was generous and neighborly. He was a good citizen and always took a keen interest in public affairs. He was a member of the Church of Christ and died in a triumphant faith in his redeemer. The floral offering was eloquent token of the esteem in which he was held by those who knew him best. A number of friends from Cisco, accompanied the family for the funeral and burial." (Source: Obituary appeared in the San Saba, TX newspaper)
