He appeared on the census of 1850, Washington Co., AR
He Married Ruthy Cosby (Rutha Cansby) daughter of Wiley Cosby and Mary ? on 9
Feb 1960; ceremony performed by Bracken Lewis.
1861: Peter was described as a farmer, a Democrat and a Baptist at Fine
Springs, Washington County, AR
Peter served in the Clarkson Independent Missouri Calvary
Began Military Service in 1861 in Captain James M. Stewart's Arkansas Troops
(first three months)
Then Peter served with Capt. John Winfrey Co. E 3rd Arkansas Calvary for the
remainder of his time in service.
Peter fought in the battle of Wilson's Creek and in the battle of Prairie
Grove.
Peter's horse was stolen on the way home from the war, while he was caring for
his brother, Alfred, who died of pneumonia.
Peter mustered out (with his brothers) at Alexander, Rapides County, Louisiana
about 1865.
Peter's wife, Ruthie Cosby, died on 15 Aug 1875 at Crawford County, Arkansas.
Peter married Rebecca Taylor, daughter of Wiley Taylor and Henryeta Johnson in
February 1876 at Crawford County, Arkansas
Rebecca was the mother of his last three children.
Peter died 10 Dec 1882 at Fine Springs, Washington Co., Arkansas
He is buried in Newberry Chapel Cemetery, Rudy, Crawford County, AR. Ruthy
Cosby is buried on his left and Rebecca Taylor is buried on his right. Five
or six generations of my family are buried there, I have the records if anyone
needs them.

My mother (Mabel Linda Fine b 1821) says that her daddy (Peter Pinkney Fine b
13 Jan 1872) was raised by Rebecca Taylor, his stepmother. Peter Pinkney (my
grandfather) was only three when his mother, Ruthy Cosby, died. He always
told his children that Rebecca was very good to them and raised him as her
own.
