The Following is the Obituary of William Nicholas Arnold:
W. N. Arnold dies early Saturday. Retired Cuero businessman succumbs after long illness, Service Monday. Rites at 9:30 A. M., Freund. Death came shortly after 3 A. M. Sat. April 22, 1944 to end the patient suffering of W. N. Arnold, Sr., 64, retired Cuero businessman died in local hospital where he was confined for some time. Service from Freund at 9;30 Monday. Funeral cortege to St. Michael's church then Hillside Cemetery. He was born Aug. 15, 1879, son of John & Fannie Bluntzer Arnold. He was married Goliad Co., Aug. 24, 1902 at Schroeder to Mary Angerstine. Six children were born, 4 survive. W N Arnold, Jr., Houston, S.Sgt. Bernie Arnold, somewhere in the North Africa, Oscar Arnold of San Antonio and James K. Arnold of Houston. 2 brothers, Albert Arnold of Rosebud and Ben of Ander, 4 sisters, Mrs, Mary Lutenbacher of Berclair, Mrs, Sopia Jacobs of Weser, Mrs Cecelia Jacobs of Weser and Mrs Fannie Fredericks of San Antonio. 5 Grandchildren. He lived in Cuero most of his married life, except of 5 years where he served as Postmaster at Berclair. He then became associated with R. C. Flick Auto Co., which later became Arnold Motor Sales.

William Arnold went to France in Dec. 1965 and received information from Father Eugene Arnold a retired Catholic priest. Father Eugene Arnold was at that time 80 years old . He also received information from Joseph Julien Arnold of Kruth, Alsace, from Henri Arnold of Zimmersheim France, and Claude Gewiss of Waterloo, Belgium. Claude Gewiss checked the church and civil records in Oderen, Kruth, and Colmar, Alsace for William Arnold and verified the dates for him.
William was working as a telegraph operator while Bernial Lee was born. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad Co.
William married Mary Elizabeth Angerstien on 24 Aug 1904 in Cuero, Dewitt Co., TX, USA. Mary (daughter of Henry Angerstien and Catherine Winifred O'bryan) was born on 12 Dec 1881 in Goliad, Goliad Co., TX, USA; died on 11 Apr 1952 in Cuero, Dewitt Co., TX, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
