  1. 1.  Emily Butler was born in 1840 in Scott Co., Mississippi (daughter of Landon Carter Butler and Elizabeth Byrne); died between 1887 and 1935.

    Notes:

    She is probably a second cousin to her husband, or something like that,
    because I think she descends from the same Butlers that John Jackson
    Smith's wife came from. My cousin in Texas, Faye Courreges, tells me
    that her father was Landon Carter Butler, named after the very wealthy
    Landon Carter (son?? of Robert King Carter of Virginia Plantation fame).
    She said she has read Landon Carter's diary, and it is very thick, and
    very interesting. I have not connected Landon Carter Butler with the
    John Butler that was father of my Margaret Peggy Katherine Butler, but if
    and when I do, then the computer will probably indicate any double
    relationships that exist, because I think I am related to Emily Butler
    and to James Eastland even if they never married each other.
