  Notes	After attending the Nash Academy in Cuero (located at the corner of French, Broadway & Gonzales sts.) Tillie taught at the Schindler School, below Schroeder, for 1 year. Then she attended business college in S.A. where she and Hattie lived at the Y.W.C.A. She worked in Houston and Fort Worth as a bookkeeper for Washer Bros. Herbert came to Houston as a salesman with the Singer Sewing Machine Co. He joined his mother and brother, Walker, in Forth Worth. After enlisting in the army on May 8, 1917, he served as a corporal with the A.E.F. in France where he was wounded during the battle of Meuse-Argonne in Oct. 1918. In the early 20's, they moved to Amarillo where he was the dealer, sales rep. and repairman for Underwood Typewriters, Sunstrand Adding Machines and Art Metal File Cabinets. Tillie managed his office and kept the books while he covered his territory, the Panhandle. They moved to S.A. in Nov. 1937.
