  Notes	! Samuel and brother John went into the mercantile business in 4-1829, styled as S&J Marshall. Samuel was the first Judge when Lyon County was formed in 1854. He moved to Cherokee County, AL and owned many slaves. He made a large investment in the iron industry around Mount Furnace. the furnace was destroyed by the Union Army and he lost everything. ! Samuel married Margaret Unknown born 1811 in VA.
