    LifeSketch CAUTION: LOTS OF ERRONEOUS MERGES HAVE TAKEN PLACE. It has been CORRECTED previously but is a mess again. Suggest going to historical sources before merging multiple different Robert Stewarts. This one has a history not hard to find. Maybe someone else will spend the hours this time to clean it up again. Robert Stewart was born in 1655 in Aberdeen, Scotland. He married Jannette Forsythe in 1682 in Edinburgh, Scotland. They had eight children in 17 years. He died in 1714 in Midlothian, Scotland, at the age of 59. Robert Stewart was born in 1655 probably in Gartnafuaran, near Balquhidder in Perthshire (today in Stirling District), Scotland. Stewart family traditions handed down by his widow Jannette (Jonet, Janet, or Janette) state that Robert was a Covenanter who fought at the Battle of Bothwell Brigg in 1679. He married Jannette afterwards, and their eldest son John was born in 1682, traditionally in Edinburgh, Scotland -- Robert is said to have been in hiding in Ulster at the time of John\'s birth. Only four children of Robert and Jannette are known: John, Robert, Samuel, and Julieyn (Julian or Julianne, whom some later writers erroneously split into two daughters, Julia and Ann). No other children are known, though they may have been others who did not survive to adulthood. Family tradition states Robert died in Edinburgh, Midlothian, in the year of Queen Anne\'s death (i.e., 1714), at the age of 59 John was the first child born to Robert Stewart, the Covenanter, and Janet Forsythe in Edinburg, Scotland in 1682. His father, Robert (subject) having been forced to leave Scotland find refuge with relatives in Londonderry, Ireland. Shortly after John\'s birth, he and his mother joined Robert in Ireland where they lived for several years and where the remainder of their family was born. After the death of Charles I, Robert returned to Scotland with his family. His son, John, later returned to the homeland of his youth, and it was here that he married Elizabeth, daughter of John Clark, and their first five children were born. Upon the death of his father, (Robert), John and his wife, Elizabeth and their young family, with his mother came to America, landing in Boston 14 Oct 1718. Samuel was born at sea. John was one of the 16 settlers of Londonderry, New Hampshire, naming it for their homeland, Londonderry, Ireland. John\'s [1682-1741] father Robert had a sister, Juliyan and Samuel was the youngest. Grandfather Robert had a good estate in Scotland when he fled from it. King William would do nothing about it, neither would Queen Ann, but when King George came to the crown, their Uncle Samuel Stewart, by help of the Duke of Argyle, recovered it. Samuel died without issue, and left no heirs. Stewart Family The clan Stewart can be traced back to Walter Fitz Alan, whose family moved to Scotland when David I was crowned the King of Scotland. The family name, Stewart, is said to have been taken from Walter’s title as High Steward of Scotland and the title, along with extensive lands, became hereditary in the family. The Royal House of Stewart came about through marriage to Robert the Bruce’s daughter. As a family, the Stewarts continuously held the Scottish throne, and then the English throne, until Queen Anne’s death in 1714. It has been claimed that the current royal family have some Stewart blood, solidifying this clan’s \"royal\" status.
